Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
0My landlord "stoped in" un announced to "check on" the plumbers work, he showed up with anoyher guy who was taking pictures for insurance purpose, come to find out it wasnt an insurance guy it was my husbands command master chief. Is that legal, especially when i said not to take pics of my bedroom an they said i dont care what it looks like and went in anyhow. And him showing up unannounced? Whats legal an whats not?

Except for emergencies, the landlord must give "reasonable" written notice to a tenant, with 24 hours deemed normally reasonable. The reason stated for the visit should limit the stop by to that matter. I do not understand why his Navy superior would take pictures; ask him. Is your husband planing a divorce, child custody battle?
Tell the landlord that you are upset about what happened and that therefore you will not in the future let him in without 24 hours written notice.
