Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
We are in the 7th year of a lease for a home (year-to-year). Due to a recent job cutback, we are now owing rent for August (rent is due by the 5th of every month), and 2 days past the September payment date. Our landlord dropped off a 3 day pay or quit notice this morning. What are our rights, if any, as long-standing tenants? We can pay the past due August by the end of this week, but may need more time for September.
