Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
9 year business forced to move
I have a Limousine business that has been growing the past 9 years at the same address in Santa Ana, CA. Never bothered the owners always paid rent before due. They wanted $200 thou. more than appraisal, which I was still trying to acquire to buy this Historian home. Ended up selling it within 2 months without so much as a phone call, it just so happens an employee inquired about the property and the agent said it's already 2 weeks in Escrow.
I never knew of this.I got a certified letter stating this 3 days later requesting me to vacate within 22 days. I've recently found a place within the 22 days, and on the 22nd day I still had a couple of limos left and they wanted to know: 1)Where's the rent? (Amazing hun?) 2}That they need everything out now! (now being the 22nd day) I just can't believe all this. December is one of our busiest months, and the chaos has been intense to all at White Rose Limousines not to mention WHY?? I'm a pretty mellow person but this is ridiculous. Is there anything I can do? PLease!

Re: 9 year business forced to move
You could demand eight more days. They have to give you a 30-day notice. Or you could argue that a 22-day notice is ineffective, and they have to give you a new 30-day notice. If you are going to do that, I suggest you have e lawyer review your lease and give you individual advice on your particular situation.
