Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
Apartment Complex Policies--Just for Tenants?
My apartment complex has a strict rule about ''no pets allowed''. My husband and I had to send our two cats to a friend a year ago to continue to live here. Now there's a new apartment manager and she has two little lap dogs that bark when they're on the front patio and she walks them all over the yard to let them relieve themselves. I called the office pretending I was looking for an apartment and asked them about their pet policy and they said no pets allowed. Is it legal for the owners of the apartment complex to allow a manager to break a strict rule, but require all tenants to adhere to it?
