Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

My apartment complex won't put my phone number in the call box because it's long distance. Sometimes I miss important documents from FEDEX, UPS, etc.... because they can't get in the building or call me from the call box.

It would probably be easier to get a burner phone with a local number as opposed to suing your landlord or management company and causing problems with your housing. I see no reason why the management company won't put the phone number on the call box, but this is one of those areas where it would probably be wiser to go along and get along.

Unless your lease has a provision that you are entitled to have your out of area cell phone in the door box, you have no legal right to it. So suing your landlord would just get you a bill for court costs at best. Just get a local phone.
