Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Apartment Lease

I just signed a 6 month lease for an apartment on 5/30/08. The next day when unpacking I noticed cockroaches on the wall heater. I assume the apartments may have a cockroach problem. Instead of dealing with cockroaches for 6 months, can I legally break my lease because of unhealthy living conditions? I was not told about a possible pest problem

Re: Apartment Lease

Probably not.

Cockroaches are everywhere, and this depends on how serious an infestation. Also, you should have noticed the little guys when you "walked through" the premises.

Call the local housing and health departments and wait for their reports.
