Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
My apartment pictures on website
I visited my Apartments website for curiosity and was very much surprised with a number of photos showing the whole interior of my own place as advertisement for one bedroom apartment.
I am dealing with same manager, nice and polite, for 8 years. She sends me written notes asking for my permission to enter the apartment at my absence in case of any scheduled revision or repair. In a coupe of verbal requests she asked me to authorize her to bring someone in. This could be a person going to rent the similar apartment or owners rep visiting it for some inspection.
The web presentation is probably a sign of appreciation for my nice and clean apartment. However, I cannot get rid of the feeling that stranger watches my private life or looks at the pictures of people I love, touches my belongings, tries my cloths and food, and plays my favorite trinkets at my absence.
Please be advised that English is my second language. I still can misunderstand something but I know the difference between entering the apartment and taking pictures of it.
I have the photos I am talking about as URL what it is not accepted by Lawguru.
Please let me know if my owner or anyone on behalf of him had the right to take them.
Thank you.

Re: My apartment pictures on website
Have you expressed your concern to the landlord? While entering the apartment to show your unit is allowed with proper notice, you do not have to allow her to show it as an example. Taking pictures of your apartment and posting them would appear to be a privacy issue, but it would be difficult to establish your damages.
Our landlord-tenant legal services provides legal rights notices to landlord on behalf of renters who are in your situation. If you would like us to draft a notice letter to your landlord our landlord tenant services offers this legal service for $100. This includes unlimited phone consultation.
