Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

My boyfriend and I rented space in his ex-brother in law's home. At the time we moved in, the property was owned by a family trust to which both my boyfriend and his ex-brother in law are the beneficiaries (it is currently in Probate litigation). Subsequently, the property was sold to another party by the temporary court appointed trustee. My current understanding (changes daily as we get new info) is that the ex-BL and new owners negotiated a 45 day lease termination and move out on Aug 10th. It seems he never informed the new owners that he was also renting to us, nor that we had paid him rent through Sep15th. He even ignored their agmt & just moved out Aug 25th. We didn't learn that we were also expected to be out until the following day, when the construction workers hired by the new owners to remodel the property showed up. They called the police, whom asked us questions regarding how long we had lived here (4 mos), if we got mail here (yes), and if we had keys (yes). They then left us alone. Since then the construction co's employees have constantly harrassed us. They bang on our door at least 5 times/day, threaten us with everything from putting us in jail, to physical harm. My boyfriend opened the door and had one of them place a baseball bat against the side of his head while threatening him! We have been extremely forthcoming with the new owners and their property mgmt. co. We informed them that although we've prepaid the rent, we understand they were not aware and did not agree to it. Nor did they recieve the money for our tenancy. We explained that we would be out as soon as we possibly could make other arrangements (ie. new home or temp storage and hotel, etc.). As the electrician and other workers hover outside our windows and front door all day everyday, they are all well aware that we have been packing and moving our things out. It is clear we are not trying to stay and force or fight an eviction, yet they continue to harass us! Do we have any rights under San Diego, CA tenant laws? Is there anything we can do to stop this harrassment until we move out (only two more days)?

Keep calling the police if the construction crew continues to harasses you. If necessary, find a landlord - tenant lawyer in your area to consult with. Good luck.
