Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

The building maintenance personnel was doing some repairs in my apartment when there was an explosion and resulted in a fire. The srpingler went off and flooded my apartment unit which resulted in damage of my personal property. Who is responsible for the damage? Per the property manager i was told that they are not liable of anything. Can you please let me know if this is true?

They are always going to tell you that they are not liable for damage. Unless the explosion can be proven to have been caused by your negligence and/or actions, then the building owner is liable for damage caused to your possessions as a result of their causing the explosion, fire and resulting water damage.

.Short answer whoever's negligence caused the problem.

In preparing your claim document everything that you claim was damaged and hopefully you took pictures. Demand to know who their insurance carrier is and call them directly.

Hope this helps, good luck and Happy Thanksgiving.
