Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

California - We signed a lease and the move in cost was technically only suppose to cover the rent from 8/13/09 through 8/31/09. We would than be expected to pay on 9/1/2009 our first actual months rent. The mistakingly said the move in cost covered the rent through 9/31/2009. I would like to know if I can stand behind their mistake and not pay until 10/1/2009.

No, because you knew what the intent of the parties was when you signed the agreement. Besides, it's not the best way to start off a new relationship. If you ask the landlord for something in the future, he/she might not be inclined to do you any favors.
