Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I called an apt complex to get a copy of my application from 3 years ago. The application had all of my personal information on it. SSN, Drivers license number, signature and birthday.

The representative of the apartment did not ask for any verification of who I was. And sent it to me via email. Do I have a case against the apartment for breach of confidentiality. I could have been anyone.

No, because you received your own information. But you might talk to the supervisor at that place and explain what happened, and recommend that they tighten their procedures to protect others' privacy.

Mr. Cohen is correct, but if you are so concerned why did you not question them when they said they were going to send it to you. You invited them to a "breach of confidentiality".

There is a simple rule in the law: no damages, no case. You have no damages from being sent your own information. End of story.
