Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Career change.. Am I still obligated for lease terms

Lease expires September 2006. Career change requires me to relocate.

Property management said I have two choices: 1. Buy out lease 2. Pay

rent until unit is rented out. Am I obligated to these terms? Can they

jeopardize my career and financial means to make a living?

Re: Career change.. Am I still obligated for lease terms

Unless you are in the military or there is a specific clause in the lease allowing you to get out under these circumstances, you are obligated for the remainder of the lease. You might be able to negotiate a settlement with the landlord if you politely explain your circumstances.
