Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
I have been caring for my disabled mother for about 2 years. I went away for 20 days in August 2009. While I was gone my brother went to my mothers home, had her sign something (she is not sure what she signed but it would appear to be a power of attorney, I have seen nothing), put her into a state run convalescent facility, took my dog (and wont tell me what he did with her) changed the locks on the home and has told police and neighbors that he has power of attorney and evicted me from the home. I have not been able to access my home, my posessions, etc. Police will not help, they say it is a civil matter. I have been kicked out of my home and all of my posessions seized, my dog stolen, etc. I need some legal help. By the way, my mom had a living trust of which I was named trustee and power of attorney prior to all this. I need legal help and I don't know where to get help/assistance. I cant even find my dog. From what I have heard my brother signed the home over to himself, even though according to the trust I am to inherit the house. But my mom is alive, so that is not even an issue right now.. I feel my brother has violated many laws and I need to fight him, but I really need help. Please contact me, thank you.

You need a lawyer ASAP. This is not something you can deal with on a free internet question site.

Tim's right this is complicated and you need to get an attorney teh does Elder Abiuse ASAp. You an't get enough frree advice other than what we are telling you. Gte an attorney now or risk losing everything. If you don't kno an attorney call your local bar association as they have referral services. This is serious and it looks like he is trying to cheap you and your mother out of everything
