Changing the co-signer on a lease

Daughter rents house with 5 people for 1 year. 2 girls up and leave. Their mother co-signed for all. Girls now bringing ''sketchy'' applicants in to rent the room. Do other occupants have say so in who rents the unoccupied room? Can lease be rewritten so that there is a new co-signer other than mother of the girls who left?
