Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
Changing lease
About one week ago our landlord sent us a letter stating that effective May 1 that our lease would change in regards to how much in late fees they can charge (going up from $85 to $110). I pay rent on time so the amount doesnt bother me but our lease states that ''Any modifications to this agreement must be in writing signed by Landlord and Residents'' and our lease is not up until the end of July. So our lease states they may not make changes but they are, is this legal? What should I do? I fear that if I allow something small like this they might try something else.

Re: Changing lease
Basically it would affect people who are on a month to month, or give them notice that, as of the end of the lease, the fee will change. It cannot affect you.
