Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Is there a code section or anything relating to Homeowners Association? I want to get more information on homeowners associations obligations to make repairs. I also have a homeowners association that is difficult to deal with and will not answer questions.

You can goggle the sections dealing with HOA's. There probably is very little case law on the subject. The CC&R's controls what these obligations are, which normally is to make repairs to the common and quasi-common areas [those areas that all owners are entitled to use and those areas only you derive a basic benefit from but that you can not change, such as the outside of the walls of your unit, balconies, pipes leading into your unit, etc.].

If the Board of Directors does not respond well, go to several of the minutes, get onto the agenda, and ask them your questions in public, punishing for answers. Keep management informed as they may be more at fault then the HOA.
