Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I'm a college student and I live in an apartment with two other girls. When we signed the lease their four of us living together but one of the girls left without finding another roommate to replace her and we have to cover her rent. Before we moved in together we all agreed if we moved out for any reason we would have to find our own replacement. My question is, can we take her to court to get our money back that we put in for her portion of rent.

Why would you think you could not sue her? If you have an agreement then you certainly can sue; the one problem is that if each of you paid 1/3 of what she owed all three of you would have to sue.
