Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

The condo I rent was just foreclosed on and the bank wants me to move within three weeks. They have offered $2,200 cash for keys, which is not enough to even hire movers nor pay a new deposit somewhere. Plus, three weeks is not enough time to find a place, pack, etc. I have a lease with the landlord that I have asked them to honor. Is there anyway to make them do that? The condo is in San Diego.

If you have a valid lease agreement, they cannot evict you. Tell them to pound sand.

There was a federal statute passed a few years ago as foreclosures started taking off, that gives you 90-days, or to the end of your lease, whichever is longer, after your landlords loses the rental property to foreclosure. If you breach the lease in any way, however, they then can evict you.
