Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
My daughter is subleasing the room in condo for almost two years now and lease was signed for 6 month at the beginning - from September 1, 2007 to March 31, 2008. It was not renewed after this date - 03/31/2008 so as I understand it is on month-to month basis now. She (my daughter) is graduating from UCSD in September and on 08/09/09 she tried to give her landlady the notice of intention to vacate property on Sep 12 and that she will pay for 12 days in September. The landlady was very rude and yell at my daughter that she has to leave on Sep 1 or pay full month rent (the pay day is the first day of the month). She also said that if she finds someone, my daughter will have to leave on Sep 1.
What my daughter can do in this situation?
