Death of Tenant

How do I find out who to contact to file a claim to recover lost rent and charges incurred after a death of a tenant? This tenant signed a 1 year lease which expres on 12/31/08. The death occurred on 05/11/08 and the family of this tenant states that ''Any agreements written or otherwise that you had with my mother died with my mother''. We have incurred almost $4,500 in lost rent and other charges. There has been no probate filed with the Counry of Sonoma. Please advise Thank you

You should seek a local attorney to help you.

Obviously re-rent the property ASAP.
