How do I defend myself against my roommates for failure to pay the rent and faced an eviction?
My roommates gambled the whole rent money away at the casino and I am only one who paid the rent.
How can I protect myself against both landlord and incompetent roommates?

Unfortunatley you are on the hook for the bad behavior of your roommates. You are all responsible for the entire rent. Even if you pay "your part" the landlord can evict all of you if the rest of the rent is not paid. How the tenants decide to pay the rent is between the tenants. The landlord gets to look to all tenants for all of the rent. You can sue your roomates if they are not living up to whatever agreement you have with them but that will not stop the lanldord from evicting for non-payment of rent.
