I moved out on June 30, 2003 and have not recieved my depostit back from my former landlord. How long does he have to return it? And if the time has expired what can be done about it?

Re: deposit return
The landlord must account for and/or return the unused portion of the security deposit within 21 days under California Civil Code 1950.5. If he does not the burden shifts and the presumption is that you are entitled to all of it back. THe code provides for double the amount as damages in addition to beaing able to seek the original amount back. Feel free to call (310)559-9445
