Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Discrimination/Harassment.....what are my rights?

I'm starting to feel I'm a victim of discrmination & harassment by my landlord. First, my car left some oil spots in my parking space and I'm being told not to park there anymore. I have stopped the leaking but am still told to move it. My neighbor parks next to me and has huge oil stains under his car but nobody has ever said anything to him about it. Second, my lease says no pets and my landlord verbally told me there was no exceptions to this rule. But, each of the other 3 units in my building have pets...a large dog, a small dog, and a cat. Also the people who lived in my unit before me had cats. Last, I'm being charged for water, sewer and trash but was told by a friend that this was not my responsibility, but the responsibility of the landlord. What are my rights on these matters? Thanks.

Re: Discrimination/Harassment.....what are my rights?

typically for discrimination to be actionable, you have to be a member of a "protected group" under the definition of the federal and/or california laws. such protected groups typically are classified by race, gender, etc..are you a minority, female, or fall into a protected group category? if not, you may still have actionable claims for other causes of action your landlord may be liable to you for. if you can email my office today with more detailed information on yourself as well as your case against your landlord, we may be able to further assist you legally and/or offer representation in this matter.
