Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
Our duplex had water damage from a cracked boiler and later during inspection they discovered asbestos in the walls and floors. We are required to be out of our home for four days. Who is responsible for temporary housing? Our landlord says that it is not covered in her insurance and will just prorate our rent during that time. Are we responsible for the hotel fees?
1 Answer from Attorneys
The landlord is responsible for your cost for temporary housing regardless of what her insurance company will pay.
