Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Elder..Can I break lease

When I moved into this upstairs apt. I was told I would be on a waiting list for downstairs. The management will not do so though I gave a letter from my Dr. that I need to be downstairs. I had neck surgery before I moved here and now have hurt my lower back by pulling groceries, laundry and furniture upstairs. I have no one who helps me. They also made me lie in order to get in. I did not qualify financially and Iwas told to have my son sign a letter that he would pay monies to me each month. Tho I told them it was a lie I did do this. I had no place else to move to and was homeless and am disabled. I am harming my health more each day and want out of this HUD lease. to move to a downstairs place. They allow new tenants to move downstairs and dismiss the residing tenants. Will this harm me with getting Sect. 8 as I am on a list for that. Thank you, Barb

Re: Elder..Can I break lease

Dear Barb:

Contact Section 8 directly, and let them know the facts.

Also, I cannot answer the part about "they made me lie", since I do not know who "they" is.
