Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Evicting violent roomate

I sublet a room in the house Im renting to a person about a year ago. After moving in, this person turned out to be alcoholic, dirty, hostile to the neighbors, and speaks loudly with profanity. His bad behavior eventually got him into jail a couple days ago for resisting police arrest after starting a fight with a neighbor.

I dont want drama in the house anymore. What can I do to evict him immediately and not have him come back to the house when he gets out of jail? I dont want his violent behavior to turn against any of the house occupants.

I want to make sure I do this right.

Thanks

Re: Evicting violent roomate

Have a process server serve the roommate with both a three-day notice to abate or quit, and a 30-day notice to vacate. Then, if he/she doesn't move out, bring an unlawful detainer action in court. You can also get a domestic violence restraining order that you can file with the police, and they can require him to stay away if he's threatened you.
