Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
eviction
Yesterday the sheriff came with my landlord to evict me. We had met the day before and made a agreement verbally that would allow me to stay. After the sheriff arrived my landlord told him that I would be staying. The sheriff wanted to fallow through on the request and had me step outside the residence then my landlord gave me permission to re-enter the home. We talked inside for a little longer as the locksmith changed the locks and then I was given a new key. Later on that evening the landlord showed back up with his wife and she was pissed off. She demanded that I give back the key and pack a bag and leave or she would have me arrested. The sherriff told him that if he let me back inside he would have to start the eviction all over again. Wanting to still work it out i put on my shoes and left for the night. Everything I own is inside and I was told by the wife that I had 15 days to get my stuff out but had to pay all the money I owed for courts fees, rent, appraisal for the house so they could get a loan, first. I gave and the landlord accepted a rolex watch as collateral earlier that day as well. What do I do? I really want to go home.

Re: eviction
There are some things missing here that make it difficult to give you a complete answer.
How long did you live there? Why would you be obligated to pay for an appraisal? How much was the rolex worth, and did you have witnesses to that transaction? What was your agreement as to collateral?
As to the sheriff, you were being evicted and once the sheriff agrees to withdraw, the eviction has to start all over again.
If I read your statement right (and it is correct) they cannot lock up your "stuff". Something doesn't fit here.
