Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

feuding neighbors

I posted a question previously

regarding two neighbors feuding in

our condominium building. The

argument centers around the right

for one of them to play his piano and

sing. The other neighbor

who lives above the piano player is

trying to put a stop to the piano

playing. Our HOA has already

reviewed the matter and has set

time limits to when our musical

neighbor can play. However, the

neighbor opposed the music player is

now citing a city law that regulates

the maximum decibel level

limit that someone can reach in a

community. He has taken to coming

around to the individual

owners trying to get us to sign some

form of injunction. The truth is that

we don't mind when our

neighbor plays the piano. I feel like

this is none of our business, and we

just want to be left alone. Is

there such a law regulating decibel

levels? And what can we do to

prevent ourselves from being

harassed further into getting involved

in this matter? Thank you.

Re: feuding neighbors

As I believe I explained before, HOA's are like a separate country, with separate laws.

Since your zip code indicates you live in Los Angeles, there are numerous noise ordinances. You would have to research yourself whether there are any limits to the decibel level.

As to being harassed further, to borrow a catchphrase from the anti-drug program, "just say no" to the annoying neighbor.
