Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
My friend has an apartment in Los Angeles. I was going to move in so I paid the April rent which was $1500 and I lived there for 3 days in April and decided to move out and I want my money back but she won't give it to me. What do I do?

You did not state whether you signed a rental agreement or paid a security deposit. If you did sign such an agreement, then you are bound to pay at least the full rent for April, but you would need to have given 30 days notice to terminate the tenancy. Unless you can confirm that your friend was able to re-rent the unit sooner than May 1, 2013, then she is entitled to retain the entire April rent payment.
