my friend sined a lease with her boyfriend for an apartment, he moved out but he is still on the lease, and is not payingANY bills or helping her in any way. she was just served an eviction notice and if her boyfriend dosnt helf her out, shes out of a home. oh, and did i mention they have a 3 year old child! nothing to help THEIR baby, and nothing to help her with THEIR rent. isnt there some legal obligation he has to help her pay for the apartment if he's on the lease too? please help! i really dont want my best friend and her baby to be homless

She can sue him for half the rent, but I'm not sure how that is going to keep her from being evicted. She also needs to go the the Department of Child Support Services and open a child support case against him. They can't help with the rent issue, but they will make him pay to support the child.
