Gas Bills

I recently moved to a new office but I forgot that I had a gas account at the old location. New tenants moved in and did not establish their own gas account.; his gas usage had therefore been charged to my account. Now the gas company sends me balance due notices at my new office. I called up gas company and was told that I am responsible for paying the bill to the day I called and cancelled.

What recourse do I have ? Should I approach the new tenant or my former landlord ?

I would make copies of the bills and nicely demand payment from the new tenant and the landlord.

The new tenants or landlord is not entitled to unjust enrichment at your expense under the circumstances. You should send a cordial demand letter for prompt payment of the balance owed to those responsible for the payment at this point, and provide proof of your claims.
