Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
Good afternoon,I am looking for an attorney who could write and send a demand letter to ask for my deposit back my ex roommate who claims can keep it because I broke the sublease contract one month in advance although I did gave notice.I can prove all the payments I made and I can provide official documentation that certifies that I was living in another place and I moved out with all expenses and rent paid. I can prove though that the sublease contract is invalid because I made all the rent payments directly to the building. Even though I still had a few days left the keys were taken from me as well as my groceries and some of my belongings and all my mail and the full deposit which was a month rent. I need a demand letter for roughly a $1100-how much would it cost to have it written&sent;?

Demand letters are easy. There are a couple of issues that need to be cleared up that are not in the post. Specifically the day you gave notice and the day the rent was due.. Many lawyers like me offer free initial consultation and have reasonable fees.
The best thing you can do is call several lawyers in the area where you are and ask what they would charge for something like that.
