Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

health problems stemming from past residence

At my previous residence my hands swoll up with blisters, cracking, pain as well as various places on my body.I seeked medical attention and found out it was a bacterial infestion caused by the contaminated well water.I have numerous doctors to vouch for this.My landlord was notified, then she evicted me and had the well filled with dirt.It has been a year and half since I moved and I still see the doctor and hands are scarred. Can I sue for compensation for medical bills? Is there a statute of limitations? How do I settle out of court?

You have two years from the date of injury to bring a lawsuit. Don't delay in retaining an attorney in your area.

As Mr. Cohen pointed out, you have two years to sue for damages, as well as pain and suffering.

I won't even begin to tell you how to settle out of court, because you will be overmatched against the insurance carrier for your landlord..

Retain a personal injury lawyer ASAP. It is almost certain that a lawyer will represent you on a contingency basis (the lawyer will take his fee out of a percentage of the amount recovered). and you won't have to pay the lawyer up front.

If you do not know a p.i. lawyer in your area, you will find many competent ones on this website.

E-mail my office if you need more.

Good luck!
