Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Hi,

My lease is over, I gave my landlord 30 days notice, and moving out in a few days to a less expensive property that belongs to the same landlord.

I asked for a rent decrease first, but was told that it is not possible.

Now, I see my current apartment on craigslist for $ 75 less a month than I was paying for the last 12 months!

I still owe the landlord rent for 10 days of September, is it legal for me to ask for a discount based on the current rent decrease?

It is "legal," but your landlord is under no obligation to give you a discount.
