Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
The home I live in has been foreclosed on and bought by a property company. We received a 'Notice to Quit' on the door yesterday, but I am confused about how much time we legally can stay in the home: 30, 60, or 90 days? Do we have to pay rent to the new owner while we stay during that time? We don't want to stay until the Sheriff comes, but we don't want to be forced out early if we're within our rights.
Thanks!

You have failed to provide the single most important piece of information necessary to answer your question: are you the foreclosed owner, or a tenant? If you are a tenant, we also need to know if you are on a lease or month-to-month rental agreement. If on a lease, we need to know when it would end or be up for renewal if there was no foreclosure.
