Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

We have been without hot water for 2 weeks. In addition there have been electrical problems as well. The landlord took a week to get the electrical problems fixed and still has not fixed the hot water issue. What are my rights and what can I do about this problem?

You are technically entitled to withhold rent, but that can put you in the position of very quickly becoming the defendant in an eviction action. You may win it because of the lack of hot water, but it's not a good place to be. I suggest you contact the San Diego Tenants Rights Center on Balboa and get their help in working your way through this.
