Interest on Commerical Security Deposit?

Hi,

We rent commercial space in Berkeley, CA. My business partner lives in one of the apartments above the business, which is owned and managed by the same landlord. He received a check for interest on his personal security deposit, but we were not given any interest on the much larger deposit required for our commercial space's security deposit. Is our business entitled to the same interest accrual? Which city office would you recommend I follow up with to confirm this?
