Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
July 21, 2016
I received from my landlord a thirty-day notice of change in terms of my tenancy. My lease is supposed to be changed to months to months. It says that there is no change in my current rent. What does this effect? Does it effects security of my residency here? Could this cause the termination of my residency here? I am 81 years old and I live in government subsidized seniors housing. I am a foreigner and don't understand English as well. (I asked my friend to help me writing this letter).

Your landlord apparently does not want to be tied down to a long term lease. Perhaps your landlord wants the flexibility to ask you to move out. If that happens, your landlord must give you proper notice and, in some counties / cities, pay sizeable relocation fee.
If you get a notice of termination of your tenancy, make sure to seek the advice from a lawyer promptly.
Good luck.
