landloard E PAYMENT

i have a 1 yr lease with a apartment

company out of the blue they said no

more paper checks,have to pay on

web sight. I dont trust this and i dont

do any banking online. can they do

this, its not in the lease. And im in

salians ca. thanks george

If it is a material change in the contract and the contract has no language discussing the ability to make a change, then they can not change the terms of the contract without your approval until the period of time of the lease ends. Whether it is a material term is unclear to me. It likely is a sufficient enough change that they can not require it until a new lease is agreed to.

I would contact them and tell them of your fears and could you not set up a system everyone feels comfortable with. Only if they refuse to act reasonably should you then point out they have no legal right to make the change. Remember, you have to live there still and you do not want the owner upset with you.
