Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

My landlord assaulted me thursday and i reported it to the police and I have a case number. The next day he handed me an eviction letter. I dont know what to do.

You need to retain an attorney who handles tenant rights matters. This sounds like a possible case of retaliatory eviction; however, many, many more facts would have to be established to really opine as to the validity of your claim. Find an attorney quickly as you need to respond and deal with this in the very near future.
