Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
My landlord did not change the carpet out before i moved in he said it was up to me. When I had to call housing code he was forced to fix everything. I had a puppy when I moved in and now that he has to fix everything he is asking me to put a pet deposit can he do this? This was not mentioned at the beginning of the lease nor when I mentioned i would change the carpet myself!

He can only change the terms of the lease when the lease is up for renewal. If it is a month-to-month, he can do it on 30-days notice.
