Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
My landlord continues to text and call and stop by at all hours harassing me and my family about rent. He verbally attacks and pounds on the door. He will then call and text. Is this legal even if I am late paying rent?

Generally speaking the California Fair Debt Collections Practices Act known as the Rosethenal Act says a creditor can only contact you between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. It might also cover some of their conduct depending on what degree. However if you are late then your landlord could serve you with a 3 day notice to pay or quit and start eviction proceedings against you. If you are continually late then they could also use that as a grounds for eviction.
My best advise is it is cheaper to pay your rent on time if you can and avoid the worry and potential costs of litigation.
