Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Landlord did not disclose house needed repairs

Landlord did not disclose house needed repairs before we moved in. Home is in bldg code violations. What are my rights as a tenant? Landlord expects me to pay for repairs that should have been done before I moved in. I am very unhappy and have been ever since moving in and finding all the problems and want to move. Am I entitle to any of my rent back? Should she be liable for my moving fees as I am already out $$ having moved into this house and would not have moved in had I known the problems with it. Do I need a lawyer? What are my rights if any?

Thank you.

Re: Landlord did not disclose house needed repairs

If you signed a lease, and the landlord told you that necessary repairs would be made prior to moving in, then she has breached the lease and made fraudulent representations entitling you to compensation. I would need more details in order to give you a more thorough consult. Good Luck.
