Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California
My landlord just lost the home I am living in to foreclosure. My lease with her ended October 1st and she did not want to right a new lease so we had a verbal contract to continue things as they are. What are my rights to getting my security deposit back from her? What are my rights as a renter in terms of how long I have before having to move out?

She is obligated to return your security deposit when you leave. Realistically, that probably won't happen, though. You could tell the bank that forecloses that you want the security deposit.
As it does not appear that you live in a city that has rent stabilization, you would have to receive a 60-day written notice from the bank to move as, I assume, you've been there more than one year. You might try negotiating with the bank for compensation as an incentive for you to move sooner.
