Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

I am a landlord and have been recently ordered to "knock down" one of my rentals by the city because they deem it an"illegal dwelling." I found out that the person I signed the original rental agreement with was subleasing rooms to others, without my knowledge (I never signed any paperwork). The original tenant informed all the people that they needed to leave and all but one have. How do I evict the tenant and continue with the city's order to demolish the dwelling? Do I have to take care of this or is it now a city issue since the tenant will not leave?

There is no question that this is not the City's problem - you have to lawfully evict the tenants then demolish the unit - and that must all be done in the time frame ordered by the City. This is not something you should go into without an attorneys advice. Contact someone in your area - this is far too complex to be relying on general legal information provided on the internet - you need specific legal advice as to your situation.
