Basically this type of clause is used in lease agreements to mean that you, the tenant, are responsible for the rent due throughout the term of the lease. For example if the monthly rent is $500 per month and the lease is for one year, then the property owner is entited to a payment of $6000.00. If you choose to leave or break the contract and you have not paid the full $6000.00, this clause allows the property owner to make a claim against you for the unpaid balance on the contract. Example: your job is relocated to another state after 6 months into a 12 month lease agreement. The property owner can make a demand for the $3000 in rent that you would owe for the remaining six months of the rental agreement.
