Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

What can I do if my Landlord shuts off my water service in an attempt to force me to move out rather than evict me legally. He did this because I demanded repairs and threatened to withhold the rent if they were not made. Who would I contact? If I were to sue him over it would it be a Small Claims suit or something else.

PLEASE HELP

Self-help, which includes things like shuttting off the water, are illegal in California. If the repairs are of a public safety or health basis, contact the local health or building department and file a complaint. There become a presumption that for the next 6 months any attempt by the landord to evict yiou is a reprical for the report and illegal. You can sue iln SCC [$7,500] or Superior Court, but most people would sue in SCC as it is much faster and niether side can be represented in court by an attorney.
