MY apt office signed for a package and NEVER told me they had it. IT was my airline tickets....I had to pay for another ticket when I got to the airport not knowing that my flight needed a paper ticket. I am out over $1000.00. Are they responsible to some point .? If they sign for a package dont they have the obligation to tell me?

This is a case for small claims court, and I can see several different issues. Did an airline send your tickets or a travel agent? Did you tell the seller that you live in an apartment, and wanted to make sure they were delivered directly to you. Did you have a receipt when you arrived at the airport? Will the airline give you any credit for the double purchase? You are actually dealing with "tort" law, or the laws of negligence, and possibly with contract law, and I can see arguing either side of the case. You also may be dealing with the law of agency.The real question is that you are out over $1,000 and should you pay for it? Obviously, someone in the office (who signed for it) is responsible...but if it was an employee, is management liable?
Now that we have covered many of the bases, ask the apartment manager if they are going to reimburse you, ask the airline for a refund, and put in a claim with the deliverer of the package (FED EX, USPS. UPS. DHL, etc). If no one takes care of this to your satisfaction, you'll probably have to sue everybody involved in small claims court. Good luck..
