Can a landlord take a tenant to court for the amount of the damages to the rental even if the landlord keeps the entire deposit? The amount of the damages exceeded the amount of the deposit.

Yes, if the cost to the landlord exceeds the deposit, the landlord is free to go to court for the balance.
