Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Landlord Walks in without Notice

My friend was renting a duplex. One day she was in the duplex minding her business when her male landlord unlocks the entry doors and walks in. She was half-naked and got very embarrassed. The landlord did not apologize or anything. He just said that he was there to pick up the monthly payment. It was not due for a few days yet. She did not receive any calls or notice from the landlord about him stopping by and she was current on her rent payments. Did the landlord have the right to do that? If not, can she sue him for damages?

Re: Landlord Walks in without Notice

No, no, no! The landlord invaded her privacy, breached the implied covenant of quiet enjoyment in the lease, etc. Have her change the locks immediately. I wouldn't be surprised if he timed his visit.
